Rolfing ®
What is Rolfing?
Rolfing is a type of bodywork that uses soft tissue manipulation, or touch, to organize, align and balance the body in gravity. Rolfers work primarily with fascia, the web-like connective tissue that surrounds, permeates, and connects every part of the body.
Using hands-on techniques, movements, and movement cues, Rolfers facilitate the release of restrictive patterns in the fascia. This unique approach to the body is what makes Rolfing so effective; change in the fascia creates lasting change in the rest of the body.
Rolfing is most effective when done in a series of sessions, which allows the body to go through the process of integration. It is through this process that the body is able to regain the integrity of its natural form; Rolfing literally integrates the entire structure of the human body in gravity, hence the name Rolf Structural Integration.
Who can receive Rolfing?
From the very young to those in their elder years, Rolfing can benefit people of all ages and from all walks of life. Anyone seeking to maintain or improve the health and well-being of their body is an excellent candidate for Rolfing. People who want to increase their body awareness, improve athletic performance, or just feel more comfortable in their own bodies are also great candidates for Rolfing.
